Over 90 years ago in a small town in Holland, a leather craftman embarked on a path that would make him design one of the world’s most emblematic satchel.
Handcrafted using techniques pioneered by Jacob de Ruiter, this satchel is cut from robust vegetable-tanned oiled leather with finished dark edges.
Only the interaction of the hide with mimosa, quebracho and chestnut barks delivers the deep natural colour of our vintage leather.
Rich in character, it will develop an exceptional patina over time.

The back and front flap are masterfully made of a single piece of hide to minimize weak points.
We use heavy gauge nylon thread for long term durability and heavy-duty push locks hidden behind the pair of adjustable buckles.
The interior is fully lined in hard-wearing olive canvas for added strength.
It features one padded pocket for a 15-inch laptop and a capacious dual-compartment interior.
Store confidential documents in the divider zippered pocket.
The large asymmetric front pockets are ideal for quick stowing.

Attach the canvas shoulder strap to lighten the load on your daily commute. It comes fitted with a wide leather shoulder strap for comfort while carrying.
This classic satchel embodies the rich character of our heritage.

You can personalise your leather satchel with your name, personal motto or a logo to make it completely unique.

I’ve been dragging this bag around for a few months now and it’s a total joy. I’m getting to be an old guy and at this point in my life I want to buy lifetime things. Things are a solution to a problem; want really good 5.1 sound? Buy a really good British receiver and get some killer speakers. Need to carry stuff around when you work because you’re a teacher? Buy a really good teacher teacher bag. Yeah, I wrote “teacher teacher” because my profession is so nice, you need to say it twice.

I was ready to purchase a satchel a few years ago and I narrowed it down to two choice, the Kodiak buffalo leather satchel or this one. I was a fool.

I bought the crappy Kodiak leather bag.

I am not disparaging the previous purchase; I am describing it. Within a month the bag started falling apart. The loop for the strap was put together with staples. Not industrial staples built for speed but staples that came out of an office stapler. The tuck locks fell apart within three months. They just FELL. APART.
Kodiak leather had good customer service and they responded to my complaints quickly and efficiently. They sent me another bag and didn’t ask for the other bag to be returned. That bag also fell apart within three months. They sent another bag. That bag also collapsed under the extreme pressure of being carried around like bags are carried around. They offered to send me another bag but I had had enough. Why do I want bags that fall apart? Who wants bags that fall apart? No one.
I went with that bag because of a slick marketing campaign and cost. The Kodiak bag was less than half the cost of this Ruitertassen satchel. There’s another story of how the bag swallowed my passport when I was traveling and I couldn’t find it but that’s a story not meant for this platform.

So, still wanting a lifetime product after all this sadness, I coughed up the cash for this satchel by Ruitertassen.
I would like to talk about a perfect story but I can’t. My Ruitertassen bag came with some bad stitching that started to come apart. I contacted Chloe at customer service and she said that shouldn’t have happened, they were very apologetic, and that if I sent the satchel back, they would replace it. I received my new satchel—it was PERFECTAMUNDO—and I sent the other satchel back at their cost.
This is the end of the story because what else is there to tell when you have received the most ultra awesome teacher teacher bag ever designed and it works perfectly?
The leather is boss AF and more than what you expect. Construction is solid, the inner canvas lining is superior to any nylon offering from the *other bag shop, and there is some comfort knowing that you will never, ever be shopping for another satchel because you now own THE BEST TEACHER TEACHER BAG THE WORLD WILL EVER KNOW.
Own one of these satchels. The world could all go wrong tomorrow but with this satchel, you know there is one thing that will not disappoint you and this satchel is that thing.
If you are a teacher then you know that you are always looking for teacher things. But what you really want are teacher teacher things.
This satchel is truly a teacher teacher thing.

I had been looking to replace my old canvas bag and wanted to move into something that would last a bit longer. I had done a wide range of searches on the internet to find a good replacement. Then I found ruitertassen.com.
So, I ordered the Scholar Pro II. This bag is amazing!!! The quality is phenomenal. The leather is nice and thick and should stand up to wear and tear over time. I believe it will patina perfectly with regular use. The inside is stitched well, and I would expect it to last. It fits my laptop without an issue and fits a second if needed. There is plenty of room for notebooks, pens, and various other gear that I need for the office.
Bottom line: I would recommend this satchel to anyone. You won’t be disappointed in quality, and it should last a lifetime!

So it’s been one year since I have had this bag. There is nothing wrong with it still. After one year of teacher teacher abuse it still looks great. None of the stitching has unraveled, none of the lining inside has torn. The tuck locks, despite me not fastening them all the time and they bang along when I walk, have not fallen apart. Nothing has come loose, unraveled, dis-attached, nor near dying. This bag has not swallowed my passport while traveling like the cheaply made Kodiak bag. Yes, change of flights, emergency replacement passport, extra hotel nights–that OTHER bag cost me some money.

This bag is exactly as promised so far. Maybe next year I’ll get to say that again. So far it looks like it. I am so glad that I am never, ever, going to have to buy another bag for work for the rest of my life.

If you are shopping for a bag, just stop shopping and get this one. GET THIS ONE.

Last weekend, people did say how nice it was. BONUS!
